noframes要素は、フレームをサポートしていない、またはフレームを表示しないように構成されているユーザーエージェントによってのみ表示されるコンテンツを指定します。

noframes要素は、フレームをサポートするユーザーエージェントは、フレームを表示しないように構成されている場合にのみ、 NOFRAMES 宣言の内容を表示する必要があります。フレームをサポートしないユーザーエージェントは、いかなる場合でも NOFRAMES の内容を表示する必要があります。

HTML5 では廃止された要素です。<iframe>要素とスタイルシートを用いて代用できます。

2.使用できるコンテキスト

noframes要素は、
frameset要素に
１つだけ
配置できます。

<noframes>要素が使用できるコンテキスト(Context・文脈)は、他に<noframes>要素が配置されていない<frameset>要素のコンテンツとしてです。

特に決まりはない様ですが、<frameset>要素は<frameset>要素のコンテンツとしても配置できます。しかし<noframes>要素の用途からして、<html>要素の2番目の要素として配置している<frameset>要素に<noframes>要素を配置するのが良いと思います。

HTML5 では廃止された要素です。<iframe>要素とスタイルシートを用いて代用できます。

HTML4.01 Frameset で<html>要素の2番目の要素として配置された<frameset>要素のコンテンツとして、<noframes>要素を配置できます。

3.コンテンツモデル

noframes要素は、
body要素を
配置できます。

<noframes>要素の子や子孫としてどのようなコンテンツ(Content・内容) が含まれなければならないかというと、１つの <body>要素です。その時、子孫要素に<noframes>要素は使用できません。

<frameset>要素のコンテンツの場合以外では、0 以上のフローコンテンツを配置できます。ただしこれはコンテンツモデルの話であり、実際は<noframes>要素を配置できるのは<frameset>要素だけなので、<body>要素しか配置できないと覚えて良いと思います。その上で<body>要素は、開始タグ, 終了タグ 共に省略できるので、<noframes>要素のコンテンツとして 0 以上のフローコンテンツを記述しても問題ありません。

HTML4.01 Frameset で<noframes>要素のコンテンツの一部として、<body>要素を使用できます。

4.コンテンツ属性

noframes要素は、
グローバル属性のみ、
設定できます。

<noframes>要素に指定することができる属性は、グローバル属性のみです。

<noframes>要素は、代替コンテンツコンテナ なので、属性の指定はしない方が良いと思います。

5.DOM インターフェイス

noframes要素を
直接表す
プロパティは
ありません。

<noframes>要素を JavaScript などで操作するには、documentの querySelector()メソッドで条件を絞って、要素を取得する方法があります。<noframes>要素は配置できるのは１つだけなので、要素セレクタで noframes と指定して、<noframes>要素のリストの最初の１つを取得できます。この時に取得できるのはHTMLElement インターフェイスです。

<noframes>要素は、代替コンテンツコンテナ なので、 JavaScript などで操作はしない方が良いと思います。

6.アクセシビリティ

noframes要素は、
ARIA in HTML に、
記述はありません。

<noframes>要素の暗黙的なARIAセマンティクスは、ありません。
<noframes>要素は、HTML Living Standard では廃止された機能です。ARIA in HTML に、この要素の記述はありません。<noframes>要素を使用する時は、HTML5 より前の機能でアクセシビリティを意識する必要がある訳です。

一応、グローバル aria-* 属性は、すべての要素で使用できます。しかし<noframes>要素は、HTML Living Standard では廃止された機能です。そのHTML文書は HTML Living Standard より前の決まりで記述されるべきなので、グローバル aria-* 属性も使用しない方が良いと思います。

<noframes>要素は、代替コンテンツコンテナなので、属性の指定はしない方が良いと思います。フレームをもちいる時に、フレームをサポートしていない、またはフレームを表示しないように構成されているユーザーエージェントによってのみ表示されるコンテンツを用意しているということだけで良いと思います。

7.レンダリング

<noframes>要素のユーザーエージェントレベルのスタイルシートデフォルトでは、displayプロパティの値は none であり、この要素とその子孫はボックスやテキストシーケンスを生成しません。

フレームをサポートしていない、またはフレームを表示しないように構成されているユーザーエージェントによってのみdisplayプロパティの値は block とされ、ブロックレベルのブロックコンテナボックス(ブロックボックス) を生成します。

<frameset>要素, <frame>要素, <noframes>要素をサポートしていないならば、そもそも無視され、コンテンツの<body>要素によってブロックレベルのブロックコンテナボックス(ブロックボックス) が生成されます。

8.気を付ける点

noframes要素は、
代替コンテンツコンテナ
である事を意識しましょう。

<noframes>要素は、フレームをサポートしていない、またはフレームを表示しないように構成されているユーザーエージェントによってのみ表示されるコンテンツを指定します。 だからといって、代替のコンテンツを本格的に作ると、フレーム内のコンテンツと代替のコンテンツの管理が大変になります。 また、代替のコンテンツでは表示される状況を意識しないといけません。
