説明

isindex要素は、単一行のテキスト入力コントロールを作成します。

isindex要素は、isindex要素は、HTML5 で廃止された要素です。HTML4.01 では非推奨でした。以下の記述は HTML3.2 での記述を記したものです。一応の知識として参照して下さい。既存の isindex要素の使用意図が不明で input要素に置き換える事が出来ない場合のみ、その環境で試行錯誤で頑張ってみて下さい。出来る限り、input要素の採用をお勧めします。
ユーザーエージェントがクエリ文字列を入力する為の 1 行のテキスト入力フィールドを提供する必要がある事を示します。入力できる文字数に制限はありません。prompt属性は、入力フィールドのプロンプト文字列を指定する為に使用できます。
現在、isindex要素のセマンティクスは、それを囲むドキュメントのベース URL が HTTP URL である場合にのみ明確に定義されています。通常、ユーザーが Enter(リターン) キーを押すと、このドキュメントのベース URL によって識別されるサーバーにクエリ文字列が送信されます。
スペース文字は「+」文字にマップされ、通常の URL 文字エスケープメカニズムが適用されることに注意してください。詳細については、HTTP 仕様を参照してください。実際には、URL にはクエリの文字セットを指定するメカニズムが現在存在しない為、クエリ文字列は Latin-1 に制限される事に注意してください。
