blockquoteは、グローバル属性とcite属性を設定できます。

cite属性

  2. 書誌学における参照 (さんしょう、英語: citation) とは、記事に参考文献の書誌情報を添えること。記事の信頼性の向上や引用の出どころの明示を目的に、学術論文や総説、専門書、オープンソースの百科事典などで行われる。
  3. </blockquote>

citeは、引用の出典または編集に関する詳細情報へのリンクを指定します。

blockquote要素内のコンテンツは別のソースからの引用でなければならず、そのアドレスがあればciteで引用することができます。

citeがある場合、空白で囲まれた有効なURLでなければなりません。対応する引用リンクを得るために、属性の値は要素のノード文書から相対的に解析されなければなりません。ユーザエージェントは、ユーザがこのような引用リンクをたどることを許可するかもしれませんが、それは主に個人的な使用 (例えば、サイトの引用の使用に関する統計を収集するサーバサイドスクリプト) を意図したものであり、読者のためのものではありません。
引用先の名称を表したい場合は、cite要素を用いる事をお勧めします。

書誌学における参照 (さんしょう、英語: citation) とは、記事に参考文献の書誌情報を添えること。記事の信頼性の向上や引用の出どころの明示を目的に、学術論文や総説、専門書、オープンソースの百科事典などで行われる。

5.Web API

直接表す
プロパティは
ありません。

blockquote要素を表すプロパティはないので、id属性を用いて documentの getElementById()メソッドで、要素を取得する方法がお勧めです。この時に取得できるのはHTMLQuoteElement オブジェクトです。blockquote要素に id属性があれば、スクリプトで何か扱っているとHTMLソースだけを見ても推測できて注意を払えるからです。 尚、アンカーとしてid属性を用いる事も想定して、命名規則を決めておくのも良いと思います。

blockquote要素は、ブロックレベルのブロックコンテナであるブロックボックスを生成します。

blockquote要素の特徴としては、そのテキストが引用である事を装飾(視覚的)にも明示できる事が重要であると思います。 読み手に引用である事が伝わる事が大事なので、アレンジする場合もその事は注意が必要です。

7.気を付ける点

引用

引用を表わす事が目的の要素なので、そのコンテンツが引用である事が大事です。
尚、安易なソースコードのコピペは、そこで用いている要素とこの文書との関係性も意識しなければならないので問題が発生しかねないです。 何を引用しているのか? その文書の文章なのかソースコードなのか、改めて考えてみて下さい。
